America Makes a Hard Left
It is at least my goal each month to have my “ponderings” in before the first of the month so that on or about the first of the month it can be posted. This month I chose to wait until after the election in order to comment on what I see as the direction of our nation.
Right up front I want it understood that I am not addressing any party affiliations or race. I want to address one’s philosophy of life. It has to do with one’s worldview. This nation has been moving ever farther to the left for many years. It took a big step in that direction with the decision of Roe vs Wade and has been sliding left ever since then. And, as I see it, it took a giant leap to the left with Tuesday’s decision by us the American people. As a result of what “we” have chosen, we will see far greater strides toward the murder of the most innocent of victims, the unborn. In fact, even those born alive are going to suffer at the hands of those who think that “no one should have to suffer for a mistake.” Special privileges to those who choose a lifestyle contrary to Scripture are going to be able to push their agenda further. Embryonic research will have new life. Then there are the judges that will leave an effect on America for years to come. Judgeships for the past many years have come only at a trickle pace because they might hold to a strict interpretation of our Constitution. Or they might actually believe an unborn child shouldn’t be treated as trash. Judges such as this have been vigorously opposed. That’s gone – now a flood of judges who aren’t looking to uphold the law as much as make it will be appointed. Judges that wouldn’t care about the Constitution they swear to uphold will be approved in mass. As I said, America has taken a giant leap to the left as we move toward a more socialistic government. That, in my view, is the bad news.
Now for the good news. We serve a God who is still in control. God is active in all the affairs of men. God doesn’t wear a hat that says either Republican or Democrat. God works out all things for His ultimate glory. As Christians, we can rest assured that no matter what we may face in the days ahead that we win in the end. In front of me there’s a little note that hangs here on the desk. It reads, “Everything is always okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.” That is so true for the Christian. Ultimately it’s only true for the Christian. No matter what takes place here in America or here on earth, in the end, when God finally judges all men, for the Christian it’s going to be okay. So I can face the tasks before me today and rest assured at night that God is in control. And I find myself agreeing with John as he ended the book of Revelation. “Even so, Lord Jesus, come!”
